The Apple iPhone 17 Pro, unveiled in September 2025, is a high-end flagship phone that features a major camera overhaul and a unibody aluminum design for improved performance and battery life. The phone is available from Apple and major retailers and carriers, starting at approximately $1,099. It comes in silver, deep blue, and cosmic orange.

Key features
Performance and design
A19 Pro chip: The iPhone 17 Pro is equipped with Apple's new A19 Pro chip, which offers up to 40% better sustained performance than the prior-generation A18 Pro.
Vapor chamber cooling: To maximize the performance of the A19 Pro chip, Apple has implemented a vapor chamber cooling system within the unibody aluminum frame.
Aluminum unibody: The device features a forged, unibody aluminum enclosure, which provides durability and exceptional heat dissipation, an improvement over the titanium frame used in previous models.
Increased RAM: The iPhone 17 Pro comes with 12GB of RAM, an increase from the 8GB in the iPhone 16 Pro models.
Battery and charging: The new internal design allows for a larger battery, resulting in longer battery life. According to Apple, the iPhone 17 Pro can provide up to 33 hours of video playback. Fast charging can get the phone to 50% battery in 20 minutes with a 40W+ adapter.
eSIM-only option: For some markets, including the U.S., Canada, and others, an eSIM-only version is available, which features a larger battery for an extra two hours of video playback.
Networking: The phone includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 via a new, Apple-designed N1 chip. It also continues to use a Qualcomm 5G modem.
Display and durability
Sizes: The iPhone 17 Pro is available in two sizes: a 6.3-inch model and a larger 6.9-inch iPhone 17 Pro Max.
ProMotion XDR display: Both models feature a Super Retina XDR OLED display with ProMotion technology for adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz. Peak outdoor brightness reaches 3,000 nits.
Improved durability: The front and back of the iPhone 17 Pro are protected by Ceramic Shield 2. The front glass is 3x more scratch-resistant, while the back ceramic shield offers 4x better resistance to cracks. An anti-reflective coating reduces glare on the display.
Dynamic Island: The pill-shaped Dynamic Island remains at the top of the display and functions as an information hub for notifications and Live Activities.
Camera and media
Triple 48MP rear camera system: All three rear cameras—the main, ultrawide, and telephoto—now have 48MP sensors. This includes a new telephoto lens with 4x and 8x optical zoom.
Camera plateau: The camera bump has been redesigned into a horizontal "camera plateau" that spans most of the upper back of the device, creating more room for internal components like the larger battery.
Camera Control button: A physical Camera Control button is located on the side, allowing for functions such as launching the camera app, taking photos, adjusting settings with gestures, and more.
18MP Center Stage front camera: The front-facing camera has been upgraded to 18 megapixels with a square-shaped sensor. The new "Center Stage" feature uses AI to adjust the frame for photos and video calls.
Pro video features: The phone is the first iPhone to support ProRes RAW, Log 2, and Genlock, which allows for precise video synchronization. A "Dual Capture" mode lets you record from the front and rear cameras simultaneously.
