arin and Chief Scientist Jens Groth, the project focuses on verifiable computation for the global financial layer.
Core Technology
Nexus zkVM: A modular, zero-knowledge virtual machine written in Rust. It is designed to prove a trillion CPU cycles per second, enabling secure and transparent computation.
The Nexus Network: A distributed prover network that aggregates computing power from various devices (smartphones to GPU farms) to create a "global supercomputer".
Verifiable Finance: The platform is purpose-built as a decentralized exchange (DEX) Layer 1, targeting trillion-dollar daily trading volumes in traditional finance (TradFi) assets like FX, derivatives, and treasuries.
Current Status (2025)
Testnet Participation: The project is currently in its testnet phase. As of mid-2025, over 2.1 million users were participating.
Contributing Compute: Users can contribute compute power to the network via a browser-based portal at beta.nexus.xyz or through a CLI tool to earn rewards.
Funding: Nexus raised $27.2 million in seed and Series A rounds from major investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Pantera Capital, and Dragonfly.
Ecosystem Resources
Documentation: Technical guides and the Nexus zkVM specification are available at docs.nexus.xyz.
